Women Empowering Teen
Moms
Background
In January of 1990, at the age of fourteen, I was informed
by the emergency room physician at West Suburban Hospital that my flu symptoms were
actually morning sickness. I was about two weeks pregnant and still a freshmen
in High School.
Eighteen years later, I found a baby picture of my son and
as I looked at his precious face, I thought who would have known that the baby is
now a senior in high school, an honor roll student, a star athlete, and a peer minister.
As a teenage mother, I had accomplished what some adult mothers strive to
have; an intelligent, well behaved, community-involved young Christian adult.
On November 28, 2008, I decided to share my experience and empower and influence
other teenage mothers so that when there children reaches eighteen, they can thank
god for their success as a parent.
